For the 2.36 g sachet:

PROPERTIES

The active ingredient of VERIBEN is diminazene, drug of the diamidines family used as aceturate salt. Diminazene is highly active against both Trypanosoma and Babesia spp. It is also of value in the treatment of theileriosis due to Theileria annulata.

Diminazene has become the most commonly used therapeutic agent for trypanosomiasis in animals.

The antipyrine, included in the excipient, ensures a complete solubility of the active ingredient and acts as an help to struggle against inflammation and fever.

INDICATIONS

Cattle, sheep, goats, horse, dog :

Treatment of protozoan diseases :

• Trypanosomosis due to Trypanosoma congolense, T. vivax et T. brucei.

• Piroplasmosis due to Babesia bovis, B. bigemina, B. ovis, B. motasi, B. canis.

• Theileriosis due to Theileria annulata.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE

Deep intramuscular route.

The recommended dosage is 3.5 mg of diminazene aceturate per kg bodyweight in a single injection. Do not exceed a total dose of 4 g of active ingredient in any animal.

Cattle, sheep, goats, horse: Prepare the injectable solution by adding 15 ml of sterile water to each 2.36 g sachet. For the 23.6 g sachet it is necessary to add 150 ml of sterile water. Mix well water and powder before sucking the sterile solution into the syringe. Inject the prepared solution according to the following table :

One injection is enough for the treatment.

NB : In case of T. brucei infestation, the dosage must be doubled. For resistant agents, the dosage can be as high as 13.18 ml of the reconstituted solution for 100 kg body weight (as 8 mg Diminazene aceturate per kg b.w.) but without injecting more than 65.7 ml per animal (4 g Diminazene aceturate/animal).

Dog: Reconstitute the injectable solution by adding 25 ml of sterile water to a 2.36 g sachet . Then, inject 1 ml of the reconstituted solution for 10 kg body weight ( as 3.5 mg Diminazene aceturate per kg b.w.).

PRECAUTIONS

In case of large volume to be injected, it is recommended to divide it into two separate sites.

Inject dogs strictly according to body mass. Overdosage or repeated dosing may cause central nervous symptoms in dogs. Keep out of reach of children.

WITHDRAWAL PERIODS

Meat: 21 days.

STORAGE

Sealed sachets can be stored in a cool dry place below 30 °C.

The reconstituted solution can be stored during 15 days in a fridge, protected from  light and in a closed glass bottle.
